Optional Cushion System

When a resilient layer (or layers) of cushion materials are applied over an asphalt or concrete (court) a cushion court surface is the results. Cushion courts usually have excellent playing characteristics and can used all year round. These attributes make them popular with players even though these courts are considerably more expensive than regular hard courts. With this process adding from $5000 to $25,000 to the cost of the court over and above the cost of the base foundation. Compared to a regular 4 to 5 coat process, this process would be as many as 10 sports coating layers with the our Acrytech Cushion and Colorguard System.

Advantage of Hard Courts

Hard Courts are usually consider as all-weather courts and are low in maintenance and only require daily care due to inclement weather conditions.

Hard Courts maybe left open all year long, therefore extending the playing season during favorable weather conditions.

Hard Court general speed of the surface can be adjusted (at time of applying the coatings) to the general speed that the owner wants to achieve. This is done by adding or sub-tracting the natural sand base.

The Life Expectancy for this type of construction is 15 to 20 years before any major structional repairs are ever done.

Types of Resurfacing Repairs - Hard Courts

New Construction - (See Construction-Hard Courts for more details)

Re-Construction - (See Construction-Hard Courts for more details)

Armor Crack Repair - NRSM, INC. & SSII are in partnership in purchasing and installing this very successful crack repair system. Our crews have lots of successful projects under their belt. No project is too small or too large for us to take on. The Armor Crack Repair System has been so successful we back it will a two year limited warranty on workmanship and materials. This is our most successful type of repair!

The ACR System utilizes a special fabric that covers the crack. When the crack widens during winter months this fabric expands. However, this material will not expand where it is bonded to a hard surface like the court. Therefore, the secret to making the fabric work is how it is purposely not bonded to the court surface in vicinity of the crack. This allows more of the special fabric to absorb movement or growth of the crack, usually without even causing the paint on top of the repair to fracture.

When completed, a “hollow” sound may be heard when the tennis ball bounces directly on the portion of the repair that is not bonded to the court. Since the fabric lies directly on top of the surface, a “dead spot” is generally not created. A hollow sound is unavoidable result of successfully repairing the cracks using this system and without the expensive alternatives of completely replacing the courts.

Although your tennis court (sport court) is still technically cracked, the crack is isolated beneath an expandable membrane hidden from view. After the 36” wide repair is covered with three coat color coating system, the repair is virtually unnoticeable. The layers of special fabric that are staggered in width to reduce build-up allow the crack to expand and contract without the crack reappearing on the surface. Although it will not prevent cracks from develop else where on the court or prevent cracks from growing in length beyond the repair, the ACR System has successfully kept repaired structural tennis court and sports court cracks from reappearing on the surface for over ten years.
